Growing A Business While Growing a Human
There’s something wild about building a business from the ground up… and then, at what feels like the peak of your momentum, being asked to slow down.
Not by choice.
But by life.
When I made the decision to leave my job and pursue You Empower Tomorrow full-time, it felt like everything was finally clicking. I had clarity. I had direction. I had momentum. My days were filled with sessions, events, ideas, and connection. I was in it.
And then I got pregnant.
A blessing, of course. One I had dreamed of and wanted so badly.
But also… a shift I don’t think we talk about enough.
Because while I was growing a human, my business didn’t just pause. Life didn’t just pause. And I found myself navigating two massive transformations at once…entrepreneurship and motherhood.
The Identity Shift No One Prepares You For
Pregnancy, for me, wasn’t all glowy and easeful.
It was uncomfortable. It was emotional. It was a constant invitation into surrender—something I’ve never been particularly good at. At the same time, I was holding this business I had poured my heart into. The pressure to keep growing, to keep showing up, to keep momentum going… it was loud. And yet, my body was asking for something different.
Rest. Slowness. Presence.
I had to learn over and over again that building a business doesn’t have to mean pushing past your limits. That growth doesn’t always look like doing more. Sometimes it looks like doing less, but with more intention.
Letting Go of the “Shoulds”
There was a version of me that thought entrepreneurship meant structure, discipline, early mornings, packed schedules, constant output. And to be honest, I tried that. But pregnancy softened me. It stripped away the rigid routines and replaced them with something much more intuitive. Some days, “working” looked like answering a few messages between naps. Other days, it looked like simply holding space for myself.
And surprisingly… my business didn’t fall apart. It evolved.
I started making decisions based on what felt aligned, not just what made sense strategically. I leaned into offerings that felt good to deliver. I spoke more honestly. I showed up more as me. And that’s when things really started to deepen.
Community Over Everything
If there’s one thing this journey has reinforced for me, it’s this:
Community is everything.
The people I’ve met along the way…clients, collaborators, fellow practitioners have held me in ways I didn’t expect. They’ve reminded me that I don’t have to do this alone. That business doesn’t have to feel isolating.
I’ve built my business on connection first.
On real conversations.
On showing up as a human before a brand.
And that has carried me through every season, especially this one.
Redefining Success in This Season
Success used to look like growth, numbers, bookings, momentum.
Now?
Success looks like alignment.
It looks like listening to my body.
It looks like building something sustainable, not just scalable.
It looks like creating a business that can hold me in every version of myself… not just the most productive one.
Because the truth is, I’m not the same person who started this journey. And that’s the point.
An Invitation to Connect
If you’re in the health and wellness space…whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been in it for years and you’ve been craving real connection, this is for you.
I’m hosting a Wellness Practitioner Networking Event on:
Saturday, April 18
3:00–5:00 PM
Sol Yoga Niagara | Niagara Falls
This event was actually one of my most requested offerings after stepping into this new season of motherhood… and I’m so excited to bring it back.
It’s not your typical networking event.
No awkward small talk. No pressure.
Just real conversations, meaningful connections, and a space to meet other practitioners who get it.
Because growing a business (especially in this industry) was never meant to be done alone.
I hope to see you there!
